Circumcision Made Without Hands

Circumcision Made Without Hands is informative of what God does when He saves someone.

Colossians 2:8: Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: 11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

It will be helpful to know who in whom in verse 11 refers to. It refers to Jesus Christ, the one in whom a mortal becomes complete and the one in whom we are circumcised without hands. The circumcision of Christ is the circumcision without hands.

Romans 2:29: But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

The circumcision of Christ, the circumcision without hands is that of the heart, in the spirit not the physical body. The circumcision made without hands cannot be water baptism. There are hands involved in water baptism, the hands of parents, the hands doing the sprinkling or immersing and the hands of the sponsors, the godfather or the godmother. There are some problems with the word sponsor. The sponsor would be the one providing the needs. That would be God. Men and women cannot perform a circumcision without hands. There are also problems with the words godfather and godmother. The godfather is not God and he is not the father of the baby or adult being baptized with water. The godmother is not God and she is not the mother of the baby. Those words do not appear in the Bible.

Colossians 2:12: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

Physical circumcision is an operation done by a doctor or a midwife, by people with hands. There is another action that is without hands, the purifying of a heart.

Acts 15:8: And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; 9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

God gives the Holy Ghost. Men do not.

Galatians 4:6: And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

Mortals can see water baptism. They cannot see the baptism of the Holy Ghost. They can only see some of the results of it.

John 3:5: Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

John 1:33: And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
